Maternity Photography in Oakland, CA

The Ma Family is one of those incredible families you want to just keep going back to, or possibly never leave. They are always up for any creative vision I might have and they bring their own sometimes too! (see below for Mama’s jacket). This Maternity Photography Session in Knowland Park, Oakland was particularly important beyond the traditional session. Their second baby is their “Oakland” Baby and yet this session commemorated the end of their time here.

This family is up and jet setting away across the globe and their Oakland Baby will be born overseas. We wanted to make sure to capture what they love about The Town. We honored the sprawling hills, beautiful sunsets, the city scape, and the way that Oakland has made them feel at home.

 

 

 

Mama describes Oakland as “her home, her community” and this move is a big change in many ways. First we made sure to spend our time capturing traditional portraits under the large trees. Then we shifted into a snuggle session in the open shade. From there we made our way down the hills where Big Brother picked flowers and snuggled his parents. In the end, Mama put on her special “Oakland” jacket and posed over the cityscape below. We ended our session in the glow of the setting sun with silhouette portraits.

It is clear that they ooze with joy and celebration of their little one. The best news is that in a few short months I will be traveling to their side of the globe to capture their newborn portraits. I can’t wait to meet their Oakland babe soon!
