Arlene and Paul are one of those couples you want to hang out with for the entire day. They’re easy going, silly, patient, and incredibly loving with one another. Entirely up for my antics, they let me lead them around the Alameda Hangar and capture their love during a Family Photography Session in Alameda, CA.
We began this session about an hour before sunset. We were close to the water and I knew it would be light and bright. Diversifying light is one of my favorite things to achieve in a session and as you scroll through you’ll see a mix of: harsh, covered shade, and backlit. Optimizing the location and light adds depth and feeling to each portrait!
This particular session was booked for very special reason- their 5 year wedding anniversary! They left their kids at home and took the time to themselves to celebrate. Kids are my jam but when you get to capture a couple without their little ones tugging or running away from them, it’s a whole new ball game of connection.
We played some games to loosen the tension but we really didn’t need to. You can tell that they truly care and connect to one another as it’s so easy to see through my lens.
At the end we walked to the far end of the Hangar to capture San Francisco in the background. I also may or may have not made Paul slow dance with Arlene to their wedding song. He’s such a good sport.
Thanks so much to Paul and Arlene for letting me document their love in an authentic way! Such a fun time and I can’t wait for year 6!
